Terry McAuliffe Has Been Lying About Virginia COVID Numbers for a Month

The Washington Post gave McAuliffe four pinocchios for his repeatedly false comments, citing his numbers as misleading and “wildly inflated.”

Terry McAuliffe has been lying to Virginians for weeks now, and this time it’s about the number of COVID cases in the Commonwealth:

McAuliffe on Oct. 7: “Just this week, 8,000 cases on Monday in Virginia. We in Virginia today, 1,142 children are in ICU beds.”

McAuliffe on Oct. 13: “Today, 1,100 children are in hospitals here in Virginia.”

McAuliffe on Oct. 21: “We just had 4,000 cases yesterday here in the Commonwealth of Virginia…We’ve just 1,142 children in serious, in hospitals, in ICU beds.”

McAuliffe on Oct. 23: “Here in Virginia, you should understand, 1,142 of our children have been in hospitals because they got COVID.”

The Washington Post gave McAuliffe four pinocchios for his repeatedly false comments, citing his numbers as misleading and “wildly inflated.”

Washington Post: “And what about McAuliffe’s Oct. 7 comment that 1,142 children were in ICU beds? That number seemed totally off-kilter. (For the week ended Oct. 2, the number of children in hospitals, not necessarily in intensive care, was just 35.)”

Washington Post: “He repeatedly mentions a weekend number for cases, but suggests it’s a one-day figure. He offers wildly inflated figures for child hospitalizations, suggesting again that these were daily figures and claiming twice that these many children were in ICUs. Instead, he appears to be citing a figure for all of the children hospitalized with covid-19 in Virginia over the past 19 months — which is still inflated.”

Terry McAuliffe’s incessantly false statements should come as no surprise to Virginians. Terry is notorious for spreading misinformation to back up his campaign narrative. In fact, he’s been called out on his lies so frequently, Virginia Rising decided to start keeping a list.

Bottom line: Terry McAuliffe’s desperate lying spree plus his failed policy agenda are two more reasons for Virginians to reject him at the voting booth November 2.
