Northam Endorses Three Statewide Candidates, All Demanded His Resignation

April 26, 2021

Scandal-plagued Governor Ralph Northam is expending his remaining political capital by endorsing Terry McAuliffe for Governor, Jay Jones for Attorney General and Delegate Hala Ayala for Lieutenant Governor. With Ayala rounding out the field, Northam has endorsed three candidates for statewide office who demanded his resignation just two years ago.

Ayala called Northam’s involvement in the blackface scandal “vile, racist and disgusting” in a prepared statement.

Ayala has also been endorsed by radical liberal Senator Elizabeth Warren, who also called for Northam’s resignation

“The only bipartisanship we’ve seen in Richmond over the last four years was political leaders on both sides of the aisle calling for Governor Northam to resign after his racist yearbook photo made our Commonwealth the laughingstock of the country.” Said Virginia Rising Executive Director Tucker Davis. “Touting Northam’s endorsement further proves that if it weren’t for double-standards, Virginia Democrats would have no standards at all.”
